Kilmac Founded

Kilmac Founded

The company was formed in 2004 by Richard Kilcullen and Athole McDonald.  Both directors are civil engineers and have worked together since 1988. The aim when they started the business was to dominate the medium sized civils market.

Jimmy was Kilmacs first employee, joining then as a foreman, he now commands position of Production Manager.

A Million Reached

A Million Reached

First year of trading saw Kilmac turnover 1 million.  Kilmacs first project saw them construct social housing in Hilltown, Dundee for George Martin Builders.

2006 saw Kilmac become the Dundee schools East of Scotland preferred groundworks contractor for social infrastructure projects.

In 2007 and after three years of operations saw Kilmac reach a turnover in excess of £6 million.

Following on from a very successful 2006-2008, Kilmac were awarded 5 schools in Perthshire by Laing O’Rourke with a value of £10 million.  Kilmac are now established as the areas leading groundwork contractor with 80 staff.

Kilmac purchases new headquarter office in Perth. Kilmac became a renewable energy developer  constructing onshore wind and hydroelectric schemes .

With continued growth in the business 2011 to 2014 saw Kilmac work on high profile contracts in Dundee including Dundee City Square and Douglas Terrace sea wall at Broughty Ferry.

As a result of our success in the renewables industry and continued growth in construction in Dundee, 2014 saw the opening of Kilmac’s Dundee Office that headquarters our construction team, renewables and our development division.

Kilmac deliver the 2015 Open

Kilmac are employed by the Open Championship to assist with delivering the Open championship in St Andrews.  Due to the success of the project they now have an on-going relationship with R&A to deliver all further Open Championships.

42 Mw Skye project granted

After 4 years of planning, Kilmac were granted planning permission for a 42Mw wind project on the Isle of Skye.  This project has a capex value of £70 million and a substantial 130km grid upgraded to the value of £120

Kilmac erected a wind turbine on land at Finavon Hill.

Kilmac are now one of the leading civil engineering companies in East and Central Scotland.  Together with development and renewable energy, Kilmac employ over 100 staff and turn over in excess of £20 million per annum.
